WAC Player of the Week: Bandja Sy

New Mexico State senior forward Bandja Sy has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 28 - February 3.

This is the first NMSU WAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week recipient since Wendell McKines did it last year during the week of February 27-March 4.

In the 86-72 victory over Texas State on Thursday, Sy posted his third double-double of the season scoring 24 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. This was also his first game without fellow senior forward Tyrone Watson, who was suspended indefinitely.

In the UTSA game, Sy scored 17 points to go with 7 rebounds en route to a 75-62 win.

Bandja Sy averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds for the week. He shot 73.9% (17-23) from the field and didn't miss a three-pointer going 2-2.
